Maintaining good health and limiting the spread of diseases depend heavily on personal hygiene. 

 

Here are ten essential personal hygiene practices:

 

a. Handwashing: Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the bathroom, before eating, and after coughing or sneezing.

 

b. Bathing/Showering: Take regular baths or showers to keep your body clean and fresh. Cleanse your body thoroughly with soap, paying attention to areas like underarms, genitals, and feet.

 

c. Brushing and Flossing: Brush your teeth at least twice a day and floss once daily to maintain oral hygiene and prevent dental issues like cavities and gum disease.

 

d. Nail Care: Keep your fingernails and toenails clean and trimmed. Avoid biting your nails, as it can introduce bacteria into your mouth.

 

e. Hair Care: Wash and groom your hair regularly to prevent the buildup of dirt and oil. Keep your scalp clean to avoid dandruff and other scalp-related issues.

 

f. Hand Sanitizing: Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol by volume to clean your hands if soap and water are not accessible.

 

g. Changing Clothes: Change your clothes daily and wear clean undergarments. Regularly wash your clothes to remove dirt and bacteria.

 

h. Cough and Sneeze Etiquette: Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your elbow when coughing or sneezing to prevent the spread of germs.

 

i. Menstrual Hygiene: If you menstruate, change sanitary pads or tampons regularly and wash your hands before and after handling them.

 

j. Foot Care: To avoid fungus infections, keep your feet dry and clean, especially in the spaces in between your toes. To preserve foot hygiene, put on fresh socks and comfortable footwear.
